FALL & WINTER 2009-2010 - LIFE BESIDE EAST RIVER and LONG ISLAND Vol.1

FREEWHEELERS' journey over the history of American clothing starts from the East River area in New York from the dawn of the 20th century to the 1940s. Because there condense the functions and moods as the source of frontier spirits which support the American soul. The stages are the Navy yard, the Coast Guard's facilities after the Black Tom Explosion, the nature to enjoy hunting and fishing, skyscrapers like jewelry boxes and the ballpark which stretches underneath to highlight the daily lives of ordinary people. What play the main roles in such a story are “Ebbets Field” and “Suffolk,” which are made of what we call Beach cloth, releasing from “Bubo Sport Togs,” an outdoor sportswear section of “Great Lakes.” Additional items represent the craftsmanship of FREEWHEELERS such as the “1910 Overcoat” and the “1940 Deck Jacket” of the U.S. Navy as well as our Brakeman Overalls made of the rare double-square-dot Wabash cloth. They try to convey the atmosphere of a certain era through clothing regardless of genre.
