FALL & WINTER 2010-2011 - TRADING POST

The title of the story is “TRADING POST.” Originally it was a trading place between Native Americans and pioneers, and it became the prototype of general stores. Later, it expanded all over the U.S. as a miniature version of American way of life. In order to obtain the abundant fur in the North America, the pioneers brought a large amount of woolen items from England. Thus started the history of woolen blankets, one type of symbolic products of America. With such woolen blankets in this collection, we release “Buffalo Brand” of our Great Lakes series including “British Columbia” and “Astoria.” They hold a significant place in this story. Meanwhile, a textile named “Mackenzie Woolen Mills” for each item plays an important role as a storyteller for “the narrative of the beginning” in American West. It connects the world expressed by “The Vanishing West,” we newly launched in order to tribute to a vanished frontier and the stories of the East that we have already descried.
