MID SUMMER 2011 - ADVERTISEMENT OF AMERICA Vol.2

Today, no one thinks it unusual to wear a T-shirt with a certain motif. But it's indeed a very American dressing style as T-shirts were originally undershirts supposedly hidden from others. This seems kind of liberty. Secondly, the idea of using the collarless and buttonless plain body as a message board to reflect one's ideas or feelings is quite unique to the country of freedom. While having a concept of the journey beyond time and space since FREEWHEELERS was founded, such printed T-shirts have shown us a good example to emit sense of freedom. Respecting T-shirts, we launched our new series titled “ADVERTISEMENT OF AMERICA” in the spring of 2011. As its second edition, we add “60-70s American Culture” to the existing “Great Junk Food” and “Automotive Profession,” which follow the same line as our first edition. The second one takes advantage of expressions that were used in the advertisements during the 60s and 70s. Through the collection, we will deliver more twisted and ironic messages than ever.

MID SUMMER 2011 - from EARLY 20TH CENTURY'S OUTDOOR SPORTS and RAILROAD

FREEWHEELERS makes clothing as if traveling freely around time and space of America by time machine. In a result of that, sort of a chemical reaction sometimes sets off and it has brought a brand new fashion style into us. Our summer collection is one of the reactions. It consists of half-sleeve shirts and short pants. The motifs were taken from light outfits of outdoorsmen and railroad workers from the 1910s to the 20s. We made them shorter than the originals. By doing so, we succeeded in keeping richer atmosphere on the modern summer style. Moreover, we prepare several types of iconic prints and emblems, similar to our “ADVERTISEMENT OF AMERICA” series, adding flavor that reminds people of the work uniforms from the 1910s to the 60s. Finally, we completed the lineup like a sticker-ridden suitcase of an experienced traveler. It has a rich sense of mixture and is engraved with the memories of drifting around beyond time and space.
